Tusten Postcards Exhibit
Summer, 2025

Photo postcards often provide us with the only known images of buildings, lakes and rivers important to TMR and local history.  Most were professionally photographed.  Before WWI, most were printed on high-quality presses and imported from Germany.

     

Between 1905-1915, also known as the Golden Age of Postcards, millions of postcards were printed, imported, sold and mailed. The public loved mailing and collecting postcards. Many Tusten public buildings, lakes and rivers and almost every tourist farm house, boarding house and hotel in the region had their own postcards.  The Half Moon Lake Hotel (and its predecessors) issued over 20 postcards.

During the summer of 2025, the Ten Mile River Scout Museum will host an exhibit entitled “Tusten Postcards.”   It includes almost 200 postcards, including some from Narrowsburg, Lava, Beaver Brook and Neweiden.

You can purchase the 54-page all-color Tusten Postcards Exhibit Guidebook from the website store.  The guidebook has the same content as the Museum exhibit.  It has has a comb binding and plastic front and rear covers.  Both physical and digital download versions are available.
